From the ‘home’ page, navigate to the magnifying glass to the left of the home tab to search the Amazon App Store for the ‘Downloader’ app.
Start to type “Downloader” until you see “Downloader Free App” appear in the list below the keyboard. Once you see it, you need to select it.
Click on the ‘Downloader’ app icon to select it for download.
Click ‘Download’ to download the app and then click “Open” once it has been installed on your device.
Once the ‘Downloader’ app has launched and you have closed any update notifications, press the select button on your remote to bring up the keyboard.
Now type in the URL so it shows as http://bit.ly/smartsec and then click ‘Go’. The download of ‘SmartSec’ will now begin.
Once the ‘SmartSec’ app has downloaded, click ‘INSTALL’. Some version of Amazon Fire TV may appear different to the image above, but the process is the same.
Once the ‘SmartSec’ has been installed, click ‘OPEN’ to launch the app.
Click on ‘Start’ to begin the process of setting up your free trial.
Provide your debit/credit card details to begin your free trial. No payment is taken until your free trial has elapsed, after which £4.99 is charged to your card. If you do not wish to proceed with a paid subscription, you simply cancel it from within the app before your trial has elapsed.
Once SmartSec has launched, click on ‘Choose Server’ to select your preferred VPN server. Generally, you should pick a server which is closest to your current location, unless you wish to show your IP Address location as elsewhere.
Once the padlock turns green, you are ‘Connected’ and can begin using your device normally. SmartSec will operate in the background and will remain connected unless your device is rebooted/loses power or your broadband ‘drops’ its connection.
